Report a sighting

Seen something in the sky over Yorkshire or the Humber? Tell us what happened. Reports are checked before anything is added to the archive, and your name and email are never published.

Tips for a useful report

  • Write it down soon. Details fade fast, so jot down what you remember, even roughly.
  • Be as exact as you can about the time and where you were standing. A street name or landmark is perfect.
  • Describe, don't explain. Say what you saw ("three white lights in a row") rather than what you think it was.
  • Note what else was around: the weather, other people, planes, the Moon. It all helps.

Worth checking first: Starlink satellites, the International Space Station and meteors cause a lot of strange-light reports. If you're not sure, send it anyway.

A bit more detail

All optional, but it helps a lot. Small details are often what help us rule out an ordinary explanation, or show that a sighting really is unusual.
